ZINKURASAN vet – Specialized Dietetic Feed Supplement with Zinc
The trace element zinc is well-known for its crucial role in cell regeneration, immune system support, and detoxification processes throughout the entire metabolism. Zinc deficiencies in horses often manifest as skin and hoof problems, itching, and allergy tendencies. During the shedding season, deficits can lead to a general weakening of the immune system and susceptibility to infections.
Conditions such as pastern dermatitis, rasp, watery stools, diarrhea, summer eczema, and poor wound healing can be external signs of a deficient situation. A lack of zinc can also lead to mucous membrane and fertility disorders. Mucous membranes are present in the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory and lung areas, as well as in the uterus. Emaciation, loss of appetite, and a predisposition to parasite infestation can be signs of inadequate zinc supply, along with nervousness and behavioral issues. Zinc is the biochemical basis for converting ß-carotene into Vitamin A and activating B-complex vitamins.
The zinc content in hay and other basic feeds has significantly decreased over the past 10 years, making substantial zinc supplementation, especially during shedding and for genetically predisposed horses (special breeds, ponies), advisable.
