Foals rely on both the nutrients and the fluid quantity of mare’s milk. If a mare is unable to produce enough milk for the foal, it can be disastrous.

Certainly, sufficient milk production requires adequate energy and protein intake (e.g., through daily grazing, as well as additional feed such as hay, straw, oats, and/or mare supplement feed). However, it is less known that the need for specific herbs and trace elements should also be met.

If certain nutrients are lacking or depleted during pregnancy, the mare is not readily able to produce high-quality milk!

This is especially true for mares that have been active in sports for a long time, exposed to a lot of stress, or have been mothers several times.

A meaningful feed supplement

Dr. Weyrauch No. 18 Mutterglück addresses this nutritional gap precisely. A full udder and sufficient milk flow are less a genetic problem in mares than the result of a needs-based and carefully considered diet. No. 18 Mutterglück contains highly bioavailable trace elements in chelate form, combined with traditionally milk-promoting herbs. The ratios of trace elements to each other are aligned with the specific metabolism of the lactating mare based on the results of scientific research. The different transition into milk has been strictly taken into account.

The binder-free, flavor-free, and additive-free preparation, as well as the chelated trace elements, allow for a particularly natural and uncontaminated nutrient uptake and significantly improve availability without burdening the metabolism. Mutterglück has proven to be very effective, helping mares with low milk flow achieve sufficient milk production within three days, allowing the foals to quickly reach normality.

Feeding recommendation:

Daily 30 to 45g (2 to 3 measuring spoons), for ponies and small horses, 1/3 less. Due to the increased trace element content, please do not feed more than 120g per horse per day.

Since the demand for magnesium can significantly increase due to a strenuous birth and may also be a possible cause for reduced milk flow, we recommend supplementation with Mg Magnesium (2 to 3 measuring spoons/day) in any case.
